What are the Benefits of Artificial Grass?

Artificial grass has seen a significant rise in popularity over the last few years but many people do not understand why. In this short blog, we will cover the main benefits of artificial grass and why it could prove to be a perfect option for your garden!

Low maintenance

One of the most popular benefits for artificial grass is the lack of maintenance required once it’s laid. Keeping a well-kept natural lawn can prove to be a very time consuming and expensive process with frequent watering and mowing required. Artificial grass takes all of that stress away, maintaining it’s colour and length all year round. The only maintenance required for artificial grass is very occasionally cleaning the grass, which can be done by simply pouring over clean water and house hold washing up liquid.

Child and Pet Friendly

Artificial Grass is both child and pet friendly. Due to the design of the grass, an artificial lawn is designed to withstand the general wear-and-tear of owning a pet or being a parent. Therefore, you can certainly allow your pet or child to play on the surface. Additionally, pet feces and urine on the surface of the grass can be easily cleaned off without discolouration or permanent smells.

Durability through weather

Furthermore, natural lawns are affected significantly by seasonal weather changes, with hot weather and draughts killing the grass over summer and winter months causing the grass to go dormant. Artificial grass is far more durable and will continue to keep it’s colour all year round. Additionally, you won’t have to worry about your lawn getting muddy, even in heavy rain fall.

Environmentally Friendly

Whilst many believe artificial grass can be bad for the environment, there are actually many environmental benefits. Firstly, maintaining a neat and natural lawn can often cause more damage than it solves. This is due to the emissions from a lawn mower, the amount of watering required and the biodiversity that is affected every time a natural lawn is cut. Once installed, artificial grass does not require any watering or mowing so these particular environmental effects can be avoided. We will be covering the environment impacts of a natural lawn vs artificial grass in more detail an upcoming blog.
